Makers Workshop
Learn carpentry skills, blacksmithing, basket weaving, brewing and many other hands-on skills - in just one weekend!
This new two-day class gives you a chance to explore heritage skills and go home with the items you create.
Makers Workshop will start at 9 am on Saturday, September 2nd and run through 4 pm on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023. Course tuition is $267 per person.
Here's exactly what you'll make (and take home!):
- a small foot stool-style bench
- one jug of mead (honey wine) that is beginning to ferment
- a wicker basket made from vines
- at least one candle that you have made
- a wooden bowl and spoon
- a steel cooking hook and small knife
Quick notes for prospective students:
1) Space is limited to 10 students per class, so claim your spot now!
2) Due to high material costs and start-up cost for this class, we cannot accept BOGO credits for this class at this time. Sorry.
3) We will provide a "one-pot" meal on Saturday night, which you can help us prepare on the open fire. Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions and bring a dishes for the meal.
4) Camping on-site is encouraged for Saturday night, as projects will run into the evening. Please bring your own camping gear. A recommended gear list will be sent to you upon enrollment.
Course Location: Near Stafford, Virginia. Detailed directions are emailed upon enrollment.
Minimum Required Equipment: Well-fitting leather work gloves, a knife (any kind), food and drinks for yourself for the weekend, appropriate clothing and wet weather gear for the expected weather, insect repellent, camping gear (if staying over) and a pen to take notes.
