Foraging can provide us with an amazing array of useful resources, and it’s easier than you might think.
Learn about:

Food Storage and Preservation Component
There are plenty of scenarios that could leave you and your family going hungry. It's YOUR responsibility to take care of yourself and your family. No exaggeration, this information will feed your loved ones in a crisis.
Learn to:
avoid the most common mistakes in food storage
build a personal plan for shelf-stable meals
package ordinary store bought foods to last for more than 30 years
preserve foods without electricity and make delicious jerky
Sustainable Gardening Component
Learn to grow your own vegetables as a hedge against sky high food prices and shortages. Sustainable gardening is a heritage skill that has existed for millennia, and the rewards can be nutritious and delicious.

Worried about getting lost in the wilds? Or wondering how to live outdoors in a bug-out scenario?
Wilderness survival skills are critical in remote areas and they are your ultimate backup plan when all else fails.
This component will include:
shelter building with modern and primitive methods
water procurement and disinfection
fire building in all kinds of weather
distress signaling that really works
Disaster Preparedness Component
Crazy weather, unprecedented fires, rumors of war, financial resets... you can't flip on the TV without hearing about some kind of disaster - small or large scale. While we all hope that the world gets safer as we go along, a smart person will take the opportunity to shore up their defenses and become better prepared for the next sucker punch.
Take the guesswork out of emergency preparedness, and gain realistic, hands-on survival techniques.
In this class, you will gain the skills to survive in urban and suburban settings by learning how to:
• "Bug In" at home, at work, or even in a car during disasters and mayhem
• Find and disinfect safe drinking water when times get tough
• Use household items for a myriad of useful (but unintended) purposes
• Identify EDC (Every Day Carry) gear and items for a "Get Home Bag"
Offgrid Cooking Component
During a disaster, you may not be able to fire up your electric oven or use the microwave to cook your family's meals. If you don't have a viable and safe back-up plan, this could be a real problem. Don't worry, we have a wide range of solutions - for all weather and situations. Learn to use an assortment of modern materials and off grid cooking techniques (frontier style up thru modern camp cookery). We’ll actually prepare food as a hands-on class exercise and you are welcome to join us for dinner at the end of the class.
Learn to make your own rocket stoves to burn a variety of fuels
Use a solar oven to bake
Make meals with Dutch ovens, and even use pots from a modern kitchen.

Like each of our classes, a detailed training manual is provided as a take-home item for each student.
Course Dates: Two dates are available this year - May 30 and Sept 12, 2026.
Course Times: 9 am to 5 pm
Course Location: Held at our home location near Hartwood, Virginia. Detailed driving directions are emailed after enrollment.
Required Equipment: Bring a bag lunch and drinks for yourself, appropriate clothing and wet weather gear for the expected weather, insect repellent, and a pen to take notes.
Recommended Equipment: For Hartwood, some seating is available at camp, but please bring a camp chair if you have one.
POLICIES FOR ALL CLASSES
NO REFUND POLICY - We have a strict no refund policy for all class purchases. Please make sure you are available for the class date and certain of your intent before you purchase. If you are purchasing with someone else’s credit card (like a work credit card or family member’s card), make sure you are authorized for the purchase. Again, we will not refund class purchases.
TRANSFER POLICY - We do allow a one-time-only transfer for each class purchase. In the event that you cannot attend the class you purchased, you’ll have ONE CHANCE to transfer to an equal value class - if you notify us at least 24 hours before the class starts. Notification can be made by email, text or phone call (phone number provided upon enrollment) and must be confirmed by Advanced Survival Training to be valid for transfer to a new class. If you contact us with fewer than 24 hours before the class starts or you do not show up for the class, you are not eligible to transfer the purchase to a different class.
COURTESY POLICY - Please be courteous to your instructor and fellow students. Arrive 20 minutes before the class starts so you do not interrupt the class introduction. Pack out any trash you create. If you are not coming - contact us! Don’t join the trend of “no show - no notification” people.
FORCE MAJEURE POLICY - Remember the COVID lockdowns in 2020? In the event of restrictions imposed by governmental agencies which prohibit people gathering for the class (including, but not limited to lockdowns and other travel restrictions), you will be notified that the class is cancelled. We will not be able to refund the tuition you paid, but we will gladly work with you to move you into a future class once the situation allows.
